दुर्गा | This is how she came to be, grandchild. The demon had grown so strong that no single god could stand against him. So all the gods together drew their light out of themselves and poured it into one place. The light became a woman — many-armed, many-weaponed, the trident from Shiva, the bow from Vayu, the sword from Vishnu, the lotus from Brahma. Her lion came roaring out of the gold. She opened her eyes and the demon, for the first time, was afraid. She is what we become when we stop standing alone.
